Save the Children helps children all around the globe.
Save the Children is the world’s leading independent organization for children, delivering programs, responding to emergencies, and has improved children’s lives in more than 120 countries worldwide for 100 years. Over the past few years, Save the Children has reached over 9.3 million children through their emergency response initiatives, disaster preparedness, and risk reduction programs. They currently have teams on the ground in Syria, Yemen and 117 other countries around the world, working to provide shelter, healthcare, education, and protection for children, with a pandemic response plan currently underway. Save the Children’s work in Canada focuses on First Nations, Metis, and Inuit communities, addressing challenges to accessing quality education and healthcare with a focus on assisting reserves, especially rural ones, with support during this time. The Emergency Health Unit, launched in 2015, consists of teams of doctors, nurses, and sanitation and logistics experts to be deployed as immediate disaster relief within 72 hours, working with ground teams and building on existing counties’ programs. These teams benefit greatly from AMS and Save the Children’s generous donors, and are directly funded by donor support. Click the link to see more about these primary health teams in action.
